Job Summary:
As Community Engagement Specialist, the function of the work is to work alongside Next Wave and Full Circle Administration and Deans to ensure students and staff are safe. CES will serve as a conduit and establish relationships with students by engaging in positive conversations. CES will also work to establish relationships with staff and families as well.

Essential Duties:
- Greet guests, employees and students in a professional and welcoming manner
- Serve as liaison between students, staff and families
- Ability to de-escalate potential “hostile” situations by using PBIS or other effective techniques
- Patrol and secure school grounds, including hallways, stairwells, and other public and unsupervised areas
- Collaborate with Administration with implementing strategies to engage students and enhance school climate and culture
- Participate in on-going Professional Development by attending workshops, lectures, etc.
- Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team
- Be familiar with security cameras and be able to gather information and share with appropriate NWFC stakeholders.
- Draft reports and record and report any discipline infractions/incidents and unauthorized visitors to the school.
- Conduct home visits when necessary (as deemed appropriate by NWFC Principal or designee)
- Participate in and complete trainings provided by Director of Student Services (de-escalation, restraint, and other trainings identified by NWFC Administrator)
- Monitor hallways and ensure students are in class
- Assist during lunch and monitor students are where they are supposed to be
- Supervise Process Room (when applicable)
- Facilitate restorative circles
- Provide support for student reflection
- Call parents/guardians/families when needed
- Create or establish a routine to share pertinent information to Admin and staff
Other Duties:
- Performs any other related duties assigned by the Principal or appropriate administrator
- Participate in re-entry meetings with NWFC students and families along with NWFC Administrators
- Perform lunch duty which includes engaging with students, ensuring students are being safe and displaying positive behavior
- Ability to use database, write up incidents and communicate with NWFC staff
Reports to: Building Principal or designee
Salary:
$50,000-185 days-40 hours/week
or
$60,000-210 days-40 hours/week
Schedule:
Varies but need to be flexible 7:45-3:45 or 9:00-5:00
