Job Goal: The Somerville Public Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker for the Food and Nutrition Services Department. 

 

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.
• Must be nationally certified in applied food service sanitation- may be acquired in on the
• job training programs with in the first 10 months of employment.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to pick up and lift/carry 60 pounds in weight.
• Ability to successfully pass a physical exam by a physician chosen by the Food and
• Nutrition Services Department.

Responsibilities:

• Receives and checks deliveries.
• Stores food and supplies in department refrigerators and storage areas.
• Maintains, rotates and records inventory.
• Operate Food and Nutrition Services Department vehicles.
• Operate all kitchen production, packaging and cleaning equipment.
• Perform required cleaning tasks.
• Perform simple facility maintenance tasks.
• Prepares food for service.
• Services all Food Service students and customers as needed.
• Possesses good customer service and communication skills.
• Performs all other related tasks as necessary for the operation of a Food Service Facility.

• Compensation: $26.01 per hour
