Job Goal: The Somerville Public Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Utility Worker for the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.
- Must be nationally certified in applied food service sanitation- may be acquired in on the
- job training programs with in the first 10 months of employment.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to pick up and lift/carry 60 pounds in weight.
- Ability to successfully pass a physical exam by a physician chosen by the Food and
- Nutrition Services Department.
Responsibilities:
- Receives and checks deliveries.
- Stores food and supplies in department refrigerators and storage areas.
- Maintains, rotates and records inventory.
- Operate Food and Nutrition Services Department vehicles.
- Operate all kitchen production, packaging and cleaning equipment.
- Perform required cleaning tasks.
- Perform simple facility maintenance tasks.
- Prepares food for service.
- Services all Food Service students and customers as needed.
- Possesses good customer service and communication skills.
- Performs all other related tasks as necessary for the operation of a Food Service Facility.
