Description

Job Goal: We seek a highly skilled and knowledgeable Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to serve preschool students, teachers, and families in community-based early education and care programs as part of the Somerville Partnership for Young Children (SPYC).

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavioral Analysis, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • BCBA Certification and/or DESE Certification
  • At least three years of relevant experience with young children preferred 
  • Demonstrated ability to form and maintain strong professional relationships with district staff and parents 
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion and the ability to effectively serve children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and priorities, and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to travel regularly within Somerville.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help develop individual treatment plans and goals for each student based on need and determination of services
  • Provide training to teachers and directors to reduce challenging behaviors
  • Provide classroom teachers and/or parents consultation on behavior modifications and/or accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the parents and caregivers to identify any concerns they have and then provide recommendations and support in ways that allow the parent to use effective strategies outside of services to help their child with those concerns.
  • Take and analyze data
  • Collaborate with others to improve services
  • Serve as a member of a team that will develop individual behavior programs
  • Maintain student confidentiality in thorough and secure record-keeping following FERPA, IDEA, and HIPPA guidelines when needed
  • Participate in all meetings as required by the school, district, or laws, to address student need
  • Other such duties as assigned by the Director of Early Education and Care and/or Director of Student Services

 

Terms of Employment:

  • Full Time/Temporary
  • Travel between school buildings is required
  • November 27, 2024 - April 17, 2025
  • School Year Schedule
  • Union Status: SEU, Unit A
  • Funded by the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative grant. 

 

Position Reports to: Director of Early Education and Care and Director of Student Services.
