Description

Job Goal: The District Co-Directors of Somerville Summer Programs will assure close coordination of all district summer programs in Somerville. The District Director will work closely with academic and City/School administrative departments to facilitate a safe and enriching series of programs that align with Somerville summer program mission.

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to start immediatley
  • Current Somerville staff with at least five years teaching experience.
  • Experience as program administrator or other building leadership role.
  • Summer Program leadership experience preferred.

 

Terms of Employment:

  • Experience in program development, curriculum design, monitoring student progress.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students; maintains and responds to social and emotional needs of students and staff
  • Knowledge and appreciation of cultural difference; commitment to removing barriers to equity, access, and inclusion
  • Evidence of five years of successful teaching experience, preferably with experience. 
  • Plannin and coordination time during out of school hours.
  • Daily hours to be determined as needed in coordination with Supervisor and program schedule.
  • Summer School session: must be available for on-site support for summer session.
  • Phone and laptop provided

 

Stipend: $10,000 per each Co-Director

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning of summer programs, to include program offerings, space/facility use, outreach, and development of common administrative reporting practices.
  • Assist in development of a comprehensive program communication plan for Somerville families.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of a common attendance reporting system for all summer programs.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of common safety protocols, in consultation and collaboration with District Student Support administrators and the Assistant District Director.
  • Consult with district Finance Director to determine appropriate funding structures, including any required fees.
  • Consult with school HR Administrators to implement cohesive and appropriate hiring protocols in collaboration with the Assistant District Director.
  • Visit program sites regularly to monitor quality.
  • Serve as liaison between district administrators and program directors regarding building security and emergency procedures, including field trip protocols.
  • Serve as liaison between district administrators and program directors regarding resources needed for effective program delivery, including space and technology needs.
  • Assist program directors and the Assistant District Director in the development of appropriate structures to monitor student progress, including pre and post-test options.
  • Supervise the Assistant District Director and site program directors to maintain accurate student records that can be accessed by all staff as needed.
  • Provide advice and support for to all program directors on staffing and hiring matters.
  • Collaborate with online learning program leaders and District instructional technology staff as needed to modify coursework in best interest of students and to include technology infused learning environment that engages students at high levels.
  • Lead development of a comprehensive, annual, program evaluation, in consultation with district administrators.
